It sounds like a middle office role to me, but I’m not sure because I don’t know the full details of the role. It sounds about on par with other MO roles if you’re actually working with the firm’s clients (the Limited Partners) and could, therefore, potentially win a job with one of them.

This role is focused on “investor servicing” and supporting the Global Credit/Fund Management segment. What is your take on this role, and on PE Fund Management, within the context of MO/BO roles? Where do they fit in and how would you compare them to the “better” MO roles (risk management, investor relations, etc) that you discussed above? Thanks

I think it will be very difficult to move from credit risk directly into corporate development because you usually need direct deal experience or project/team experience at the company first. Your best options would be something like:

1) Move into corporate finance or a treasury role at your current firm and then use that to move into corporate finance/treasury at a normal company and eventually into corporate development (easier to get into CD once you’re already at the company, even without real deal experience).

2) Do the same thing, but move into corporate development at your current bank instead of switching to a normal F500 company.

Another option might be to move into corporate banking, since it is somewhat related to credit risk, and then see if you can use that to move into a deal-related role.

The prerequisite for Corp development is front end IB experience, I have worked on the same deals but managing different responsibilities. Any advice would be super helpful, thanks.
